Happy (belated) Thanksgiving

If you have  a few clicks to spare, please look at a larger version of the holiday guy. I may have, and in fact did draw him for 18×24. When you zoom it in you’ll see I did all the stitching on his clothes and such.

I haven’t been illustrating enough lately so this is an attempt to start getting back in the swing of things.

The Swing at the old barn

It was raining today, so naturally I sought out an abandoned building to take pictures of. I’ll have the rest up in a day or two, but for now here’s a moving cinegraph of the swing that was in front of the barn. Also, I found what appears to be a full street of abandoned and burned homes near by so expect more in the near future!

The swing was getting blown by the wind the whole time I was there

Dead Girl Glowing Tee!

Printed freshly today! The Dead Girl shirt! The folks over at fingers Duke were printing these late into the evening so they could have them ready for a new t-shirt Tuesday.

Plus, it’s GLOW IN THE DARK. I’m going to turn out the lights where ever I go just so I can use it like a flashlight to see. I’m sure that I’ll have to be careful not to aim it directly at people so I don’t blind them (with awesome).

With lots of options!

I’m excited to see this design printed, or at all for a few reasons. This design was one I had done a couple of years ago (2010), and to have it show up again was quite my hearts delight! I was 100% sure that this was one of the designs that had gone up in smoke in the great 2011 digital fire and computer crash. So to get have it printed now, well, I did a merry little jig!
The initial conversation went sorta like this is a nutshell.

Fingers Duke, “Hey Joe, you remember that day of the dead girl that you designed a couple years ago? We were wondering if we could print those?”

Joe, “I wish you could my friends, but alas they have left the digital realm and only exist on a higher plain now.”

Fingers Duke, “Come again?”

Joe, “They got deleted when my computer and backup went down.”

Fingers Duke, “Oh, weeellll, we just found a copy of the files on one of our computers, so we can just print from that.”

Joe, “…….Awesome….”    Then the single tear rolled down my cheek as I realized that maybe life was more like the movies than I had acknowledged.

All that aside they’re a very cool shirt that is very appropriate for the halloween season. Also they are printed in a verity of styles ranging from tee to hip loose sweatshirt type deal.

You can also see them on the Fingers Duke blog or even purchase one (or all of them) here!

Readability Experiment

Just a little experiment to see what would and wouldn’t be readable. Definitely not something that you can glance at and get. Plus, being a Pantone nerd helps a little too. Also, if you’re a female and you can read this through, we should probably get married.

Writers/ Drawers Block

I started to try a new style a few days ago. After almost a full day of attempting, I had come up with nothing. Such my fixation on it began and all progress ground to a halt.

Yes, for the past three days I’ve been a bear.

Also, I ordered an intervalometer today so expect more long exposures and time lapse in the future!
